Did You Know That An Arabic Interpreter Is An Essential Worker?
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) explicitly included On-Site Arabic medical interpreters among the listed examples of health care personnel eligible for Phase 1 vaccinations, and to include on-site interpreters in other settings like community interpreting, educational interpreting, state and local government offices, court and interpreters in legal or administrative law settings, among “other essential workers” (OEW) per the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).
We note that this front-line personnel is not included in either the CDC guidance or CISA guidance. There are encouraging signs that states are including Arabic interpreters in HCP, from Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Illinois, and many others; we applaud these positive steps from the CDC.
Arabic Language on-site medical interpreters perform lifesaving and essential work, in direct contact with patients and other health care professionals.
